The institution of education examined in several countries

Increased access to and achievement in education helps individuals as well as their countries. A recent report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) states that more widespread university education means prosperous economies. In our increasingly global society, it is important for us to learn more about other countries and their major institutions. One key institution is that of education. OECD has a very interesting publication called "Education at a Glance 2007" that examines the educational systems and outcomes of several countries. It focuses on some key areas, including:

Participation and achievement in education
Public and private spending on education
The state of lifelong learning
Conditions for pupils

It also examines how the socioeconomic status of students relates to their educational experiences and educational outcomes.

The report is available at: http://www.oecd.org/document/30/0,3343,en_2649_201185_39251550_1_1_1_1,00.html
